Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026

Important Notice

These terms govern your use of the Ghostart platform operated by Ghostart Ltd ("Ghostart", "we", "us"). By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you are using Ghostart on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company to these terms.

1. Service Description

Ghostart is a Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) platform. It helps businesses and the people who work in them get found and recommended by AI tools. The service includes:

  • Analysing the website you provide and building an AI-visibility strategy for your business
  • Drafting content in your voice — social posts, articles and website pages — aimed at the questions your customers ask AI
  • Scoring drafts for authenticity and citability (the Beige-ometer)
  • Publishing content to platforms you connect (such as LinkedIn, WordPress and Ghost)
  • Checking whether AI tools (including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity) mention your business for your target topics, and tracking that over time
  • Team features: one company strategy, per-person topics, drafts for each team member in their own voice

We improve the platform continually, and features may change. Where a change materially reduces what you pay for, we will tell you.

2. Accounts and Registration

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 to use Ghostart. One person may not maintain multiple free-trial accounts.

3. Teams, Roles and Company Data

  • Company admins manage the company workspace: the Brand Bible, GEO strategy, team membership, publishing connections and billing.
  • Team members get their own topics, drafts and voice profile within the company workspace.
  • Joining a company requires approval. A request to join an existing company creates a pending request with no access to company data. A company admin must approve it, and may decline any request.
  • Company data (the Brand Bible, strategy, coverage results and content created in the company workspace) belongs to the company and remains with it if a member leaves.
  • Your personal data (your account, your voice exercises) is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, which also explains what company admins can and cannot see.
  • If a member is removed or leaves, their access to the company workspace ends; content they created for the company stays with the company.

4. Website Analysis and Web Content

When you provide a website URL, you authorise us to fetch and analyse that site (including pages such as your homepage and About page, and any structured data on them) to build your strategy, assess your pages and check your entity consistency. You confirm you are authorised to submit that website for analysis.

The service also processes publicly available web content — for example pages that AI assistants cite for your topics, which may include other businesses' websites. We process such content to provide the service, in line with our Privacy Policy. Businesses can verify their domain with us and control how their site appears in our public tools.

5. Third-Party AI Engines

To measure your AI visibility, we send queries relating to your business and topics to third-party AI services — including those operated by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Perplexity — and store their responses so you can see results and trends. You should know:

  • Those responses are generated by third parties. They may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date — including statements about your own business. Ghostart surfaces them so you can act on them; it does not endorse them.
  • AI answers vary between engines, between questions, and between runs of the same question. A single result is a sample, not a verdict.
  • ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity are trademarks of their respective owners. Ghostart is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.

6. Research and Benchmarking

We publish research about AI visibility — how often AI tools name businesses of different kinds, how that changes over time, and what makes content more likely to be cited. To do that, we analyse data from across the service, including visibility-check results and content scores. By using Ghostart you agree to this on the following terms:

  • Anonymised and aggregated only. Research analysis uses de-identified data, and anything we publish reports groups — an industry, a size band, a time period — never an identifiable business, person or piece of content.
  • Your competitive information stays yours. We never publish your strategy, your topics, your drafts or your individual results, and nothing in our research gives any other business a view of your account.
  • It includes checks from before you signed up. Free visibility checks we ran for you before launch (for example as a waitlist member) form part of your account's record and are covered by the same rules.
  • Questions welcome. Contact team@ghostart.io about how research data is handled.

7. AI-Generated Content

Ghostart drafts content with you, using AI. You are responsible for reviewing content before you publish it: for its accuracy, for any claims it makes, and for its compliance with laws and the rules of any platform you publish it to. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or suitability of AI-generated content.

8. No Guaranteed Outcomes

We do not and cannot guarantee that your business will be cited, mentioned or recommended by any AI tool.Whether an AI names a business depends on retrieval, question wording, competing sources, recency and each model's own behaviour — none of which any provider controls. Ghostart's job is to improve your likelihood of being cited and to show you honestly whether that is changing. Be wary of anyone who promises guaranteed AI rankings; we make no such promise, and nothing in our marketing or product should be read as one.

9. Publishing and Third-Party Integrations

  • You may connect third-party accounts (such as LinkedIn, WordPress, Ghost and Google Search Console). We access them only as needed to provide the service, and you can disconnect them at any time.
  • Content published through Ghostart is published under your account on the destination platform. You own it and are responsible for it.
  • You must comply with the terms of any platform you connect or publish to. If a platform changes or withdraws its integration, the related Ghostart features may change or stop working; that is outside our control.

10. Intellectual Property

You own the content you create with Ghostart, including drafts and published pieces. The Ghostart platform itself — its software, features, design, scoring systems and branding — is owned by Ghostart Ltd and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, resell or reverse-engineer the platform.

11. Free Trial

  • New accounts get a 7-day free trial with full platform access. No payment card is required, and we never charge you without your explicit consent.
  • When a trial ends without a subscription, your account moves to a limited state: your data and history are kept and viewable, but the engine (content generation, visibility checks, publishing) pauses until you subscribe.
  • We may extend trials at our discretion. Trials are limited to one per person and one per company domain.

12. Fair Usage and AI Allowance

Plans include unlimited content creation, subject to fair use. The allowance is generous — comfortably more than the publishing rhythm your strategy sets — and exists to prevent abuse (automated bulk generation, resale of capacity), not to constrain normal use. In the rare case of extreme usage we will contact you first; nobody gets cut off mid-flow.

13. Subscription, Billing and Team Seats

  • The base plan covers your company: the company admin plus up to 3 team members. Monthly and annual billing are available; annual is priced at ten months (two months free).
  • Additional members: each active member beyond the included 3 adds a per-member charge to the company subscription. The charge starts when the member accepts their invitation or is approved — never for pending invitations or unapproved requests — and stops when they are removed.
  • Prices are shown and billed in your local currency where supported (GBP, EUR, USD). Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.
  • Companies with 10 or more publishing members should contact us for enterprise terms.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next billing period. You can cancel any time via the billing portal and keep access until the end of the period already paid for. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

14. Prohibited Uses

You must not use Ghostart to:

  • Publish unlawful, defamatory, deceptive or infringing content
  • Misrepresent who you are, or submit websites you have no authority over
  • Manipulate AI systems deceptively — for example mass-generated page spam, fake reviews or forum astroturfing, or private citation networks
  • Send spam or unsolicited bulk messages through connected platforms
  • Probe, disrupt or overload the platform, or access it by automated means except through features we provide
  • Resell or provide the service to third parties without our agreement (agencies and multi-company operators: contact us — we have terms for that)

15. Termination

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with notice where practicable. On termination we handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy, including your right to export it first.

16. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence). Subject to that: Ghostart is provided "as is"; we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits, revenue or goodwill, or for the content or availability of third-party services (including AI engines and publishing platforms); and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amounts you paid us in that period.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. For material changes we will notify you (by email or in-app) and ask you to re-accept. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

18. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Ghostart shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
